WITH ZARA WATERS
Before art belonged to galleries, it belonged to the body.
It lived in caves, on skin, in ritual spaces, a way of meeting the unseen and giving form to what moved beneath daily life.
This day draws from that older knowing.
We enter slowly, using breath and sound to support a more receptive, creative state. From here, attention shifts away from explanation and towards sensation. Images emerge without planning, shaped by something older than thought.
The figures, marks and forms that arise are not symbols to be decoded or explained away. They are traces of memory, instinct, lineage, and what is asking to be seen.
The day is informed by my background in psychotherapeutic practice and art, which shapes how the workshop is held and allows space for depth, reflection and whatever emerges through the process.
There will be space within the day to reflect on what has arisen for you, to notice what has emerged, and to sense how it may be reflecting in your life.
Art becomes a threshold between inner and outer worlds, between what has been carried and what is beginning to move.
Nothing is rushed.
Nothing is dismissed.
Nothing is too much or too little to meet the canvas.
You may arrive not thinking of yourself as an artist, and leave recognising that you are one.
This is a return to art as a living, human act, one that remembers what words cannot and allows something true to take form. It is something that can stay with you long after the workshop has finished.
